ARARAT - The Ararat Advertiser Golden Gateway Festival is finalising plans for its Mini Makeover evening to be held at Gum San Chinese Heritage Centre on Wednesday October 22.
The evening will begin at 6pm with a children's parade of fashions from Tigerberry. This is a range of babies and children's clothing.
A fashion parade will also be held during the evening, with the `Make Over Group' presented to those in attendance at 7pm. The lucky five include include Karen Chaplin, Terry Weeks, Jill Deneys, Cynthia Davidson and Sue Blizzard.
Jax and Shooz will also be part of the parade.
All proceeds from this event will go to `Relay for Life' a Cancer Council of Victoria charity.
"Although the next relay is not to be held until next year the fundraising will begin during this year's festival with this new event,'' new chair manager of the 2009 committee for Relay for Life Cr Gwenda Allgood said.
"Everyone is looking for something different to attract people to help this worth while cause. The idea grew from a gap in the Golden Gateway Festival program. Many local businesses and different people came forward with ideas and suggestions that could be adopted to help with the night.
"The Festival committee is grateful to all the sponsors who have made some fantastic offers to assist with the event and without the makeover participants placing their names forward this would not have been possible either.''
The five Mini Makeover participants are busy preparing themselves. They have received the Ultra Lite Weight loss program from Ararat Health Wise Pharmacy, with the Ararat YMCA providing five weeks of free access to their facilities. Fiona Cochrane from Amcal Pharmacy will assist with the makeup for the participants, Leah Powell, from Norma Jeans will provide hair salon facilities and Kaye Poyner Beauty Therapy with facials.
The prizes to be drawn on the night will be won by one of the participants who will receive a package donated by local businesses, including Hidden Secrets, Bailey's on Barkly and Peter Pickering before and after photography.
The wine for the evening has been donated by Montara, Mount Langi Ghiran, Mount Cole Wineworks and Seppelts Great Western
Tickets are $20 and can be collected from Gwenda Allgood at R and B Drycleaners phone 5352 3621, Hidden Secrets, Bailey's on Barkly, Jax, Kaye Poyner Beauty Therapy and Norma Jeans. There will be door prizes and competitions on the night. Drinks and nibbles will begin at 6pm with supper after the parade. Trade tables are available at $10 each for anyone interested
