Lake works

14/10/2008 9:43:00 AM
LAKE BOLAC - Parks Victoria and the Lake Bolac Foreshore Committee have been busy over the past few months at the lake, particularly around the eastern side.

Work has focussed on renewing some of the visitor facilities while continuing to repair the damage caused by the windstorm in January 2006.

Work includes heaping and burning the remains of the sugargum plantation on the eastern side, replacement of old picnic tables and fireplaces at Fisherman's Point and Eastern Beach.

The Eastern Beach campground has been reopened after around 25 pine stumps were removed, a new fence constructed, toilets painted and weeds sprayed.

Seeds were collected from indigenous plants around the lake, Redgum, Blackwood and Bursaria for revegetating the eastern side.

Three new Lake Bolac information signs were also located at the main visitor sites around the lake.
