 Bargain hunting night!

Bargain hunting night!

10/10/2008 9:23:00 AM
ARARAT - Shoppers need to start saving for the second annual East Grampians Health Service Auxiliary Shopping Spree.

The Shopping Spree will be held in the Barkly Street shopping precinct Ararat on Thursday November 13 from 6pm to 10pm.

After the success of the first shopping spree last year in which 150 shoppers took advantage of great specials and helped make it a fun event, the EGHS Auxiliary quickly took on to do this event again as part of its fundraising activities.

With Christmas just around the corner and summer fast approaching the Shopping Spree is a fantastic chance to stock up on summer items and to do some early Christmas shopping with great discounts and specials on offer.

It is expected that there will be up to sixteen selected Barkly Street retail stores involved on the night and shopping will be hectic with only 10 minutes in each store to buy, and some stores will make available refreshments along the way. Pre-selection of items from participating retail stores is an option the week prior from the November 6 and these can be held aside for payment on the Shopping Spree night with the appropriate discounts.

Ararat Retravision, Growmaster and Mitre 10 Ararat again will also be part of the Shopping Spree, but they will not be open on the night as they are not accessible within the required time for shopping. These stores can be visited in the week leading up to the night and the same special discounts will apply to shoppers.

The number of shoppers on the night will be limited and you can choose to be in a team of up to 15 shoppers with their friends or can be placed in a team where you will meet new friends.

All potential shoppers must register and purchase a passport which will cost $20 per person and these will be available from October 20 onwards from Gilbert and Jury, 128 Barkly St Ararat during normal trading hours Monday to Saturday.

On the night nominated team captains will accompany shoppers and they will make sure your passport is stamped at each store to be eligible to go in the draw for great prizes donated by participating stores. Prizes will be drawn at the conclusion at the Ararat Performing Arts Centre where supper will be provided by the Auxiliary and drinks will be available at bar prices.

All proceeds raised by the EGHS Auxiliary from the Shopping Spree will go towards paediatrics equipment for the operating theatre at the Ararat Hospital.
